Walkathon on World Heart Day

Mangaluru, September 29,2022 : On occasion of World Heart Day, Srinivas Hospital Mukka organised a walkathon of 5 km from Surathkal junction to Srinivas Hospital, Mukka. The walkathon began with warm-up aerobic session from Srinivas College of Physiotherapy. The programme was inaugurated by the pro-chancellor, Srinivas University, Dr A Srinivas Rao. The programme was addressed by Dr Subramanyam, the chief interventional cardiologist, professor and head, department Of Cardiology, who addressed the gathering and stressed upon importance of healthy living with lifestyle modification. He also emphasised that regular health check and follow up will keep the heart healthy. Dr Subramanyam, also informed on various techniques to extend the healthy heart for a wealthy living. He also verbalised on the importance of stress free life, as stress is one of the important contributing factor for an increase in cardiovascular diseases. "Embracing exercise and healthy diet will add years to life and also improve the quality of living. Dr Subramanayam also drew the attention for the need of regular cardiac evaluation after age of 40 years. This will help in early detection and prompt intervention, thereby preventing future major cardiac related complications," he said.  The theme for the year is 'Use heart for every heart'. Srinivas Hospital in association with the staff, students, general public and various associations conducted the walkathon. More than 1,000 people participated in the event. The placards were displayed focusing on healthy lifestyle and awareness regarding cardiac health

Freshers Day PRARAMBH 2022

Mangaluru, 24th September, 2022: Srinivas University Institute of Hotel Management and Tourism and Department of Interior Design organized and celebrated Freshers’ Day  (PRARAMBH 2022) on 24th of September 2022 at Srinivas University City Campus, Pandeshwara, Mangalore. DR. CA A. Raghavendra Rao Honorable Chancellor, Srinivas University, Mangaluru and President A. Shama Rao Foundation presided over the function. In his presidential remarks, he emphasized the importance of hard work and self-involvement in building the bright future of students in the field of Hotel Management and Tourism and also Interior design and decoration. Smt. A. Vijayalakshmi R Rao Trustee-Member, Board of Governors, Srinivas University, Mangaluru, and Prof. Er. Smt. A. Mitra S. Rao Trustee-Member, Board of Governors, Srinivas University, Mangaluru, Dr. P. S. Aithal, Vice Chancellor, Srinivas University, Mangaluru, Dr. Ajay   Kumar, Registrar (Development) were the guests of honour of the programme. The Guests of Honor prestigiously awarded the badges to the newly elected Student Council members of Srinivas University Institute of Hotel Management & Tourism and Department of Interior Design. Smt. A. Vijayalakshmi R Rao, during her speech to the freshers, highlighted the opportunities that the hospitality industry holds and encouraged them to be passionate while choosing their career path. Prof. Er. Smt. A. Mitra S. Rao, administered the oath to the newly elected student council members and during her speech, she stressed the importance of Hotel Management and Interior Design courses and gave a glimpse of the current global scenario of the hospitality sector and interior design while focusing on being more innovative to excel in this field. Prof. Swaminathan S, Dean, Institute of Hotel Management and Tourism was also present on the occasion and congratulated all the students for making this programme a grand success. Ms. Arya Savan Shirodkar of IV Year BHMCT welcomed the gathering and  Ms. Shravya Shetty of  III year BSc.ID delivered the vote of thanks. Cultural programme, cake cutting ceremony was the main highlights of the programme.

Fascial Manipulation Certificate Course by Stecco-Level 1

 Mangaluru, 13th September, 2022: Institute of Physiotherapy, Srinivas University had organized a 6 day hands on certificate course on “Fascial Manipulation by Stecco- Level 1” from 13th September 2022 to 18th September 2022 at Srinivas Saffron Hotel, Mangaluru. Kobi Weiss, an eminent therapist from Israel was the Instructor for the course. An overview of the myofascial (Musculoskeletal System) with its mechanics and how it affects movement was given followed by hands on sessions related to its Assessment.   A total of 20 Participants had enrolled for the course from different regions of India. 

Freshers fair at Institute of Physiotherapy

Mangaluru, 22nd September, 2022: Institute of Physiotherapy Srinivas University conducted the VI Freshers Fair (2022-23) on 22^nd September 2022 at City Campus Auditorium, Pandeshwar, Mangaluru for its undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Students and parents from different parts of the country had gathered for the event. Invited dignitaries, Dr CA. A. Raghavendra Rao, Chancellor, Srinivas University & President of A. Shama Rao Foundation, Mangaluru, Dr A. Srinivas Rao, Pro-Chancellor, Srinivas University & Vice President of A. Shama Rao Foundation, Mangaluru, & Dr A. Mitra S. Rao, Secretary, A. Shama Rao Foundation, Mangalore, Dr P.S Aithal, Vice-Chancellor, Srinivas University, Mangaluru, Dr Ajay Kumar (Registrar Development), Srinivas University, Mangaluru and Dr S. Rajasekar, Dean , Institute of Physiotherapy Srinivas University, Mangaluru graced the event with their presence. The program commenced with the "Saraswathi Vandana", and was followed by the lamp lighting by the Guest of Honour and Fresher students. Welcome address was given by Dr S. Rajasekar, Dean Institute of Physiotherapy Srinivas University and the dignitaries were florally welcomed by faculties. Presidential address was delivered by Dr CA. A. Raghavendra Rao, Chancellor, Srinivas University & President of A. Shama Rao Foundation, Mangaluru, who was sharing his experience on Physiotherapy and emphasized the importance of Physiotherapy and its upcoming role in society. Dr A. Srinivas Rao, Pro-Chancellor, Srinivas University & Vice President of A. Shama Rao Foundation, Mangaluru welcomed the fresher students and delivered his words of wisdom on importance of physiotherapy. Dr A. Mitra S. Rao, Secretary, A. Shama Rao Foundation, Mangaluru had a friendly interaction with students and emphasized on the importance of learning languages and maintaining patience in serving humanity and assured the students that they had made the right choice of choosing physiotherapy as their profession. Course briefing was done by Dr Thrishala Noronha (Associate Professor, Institute of Physiotherapy Mangaluru) who gave a detailed idea on the outline of the courses and curriculum. She also added on the rules and regulations to be followed by the students. Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr Premkumar M, Associate Professor of College of Physiotherapy. The formal event concluded with the National Anthem.

Rabies Awareness Programme

Mangaluru, 20th September, 2022: With the blessings of A Shama Rao, Founder of Srinivas University, under the guidance of Dr. CA A. Raghavendra Rao, Honourable Chancellor of Srinivas University and Dr. A Srinivas Rao, Honourable Pro Chancellor of Srinivas University. The Department of Virology and Immunology in collaboration with the Department of Medical Laboratory Technology, Institute of Allied Health Sciences, Srinivas University, Mukka organized “Rabies Awareness Program” on 20 th September 2022 at 10:00 AM in Srinivas University Campus, Mukka. The Chief Guest for the day was Mr. Tauseef Ahmed (Animal Rescuer, TEDx Speaker and Writer) and the Guests of Honor for the Day were Dr. Anil Kumar (Registrar, Srinivas University) and Prof. Devaseelan S (Dean, Institute of Allied Health Sciences). The program started with a prayer song sung by the students. The inauguration was done by lighting the traditional lamp by the guest and the dignitaries. The welcome address was given by Anagha (Student, Department of MLT). The significance of the Rabies Awareness program was presented by Rithika, II B.Sc. Medical Laboratory Technology. Mr. Tauseef Ahmed, the chief guest, gave a talk on the topic, “Prevention of Rabies through Education and Vaccination” and stressed on the importance of vaccinating the dogs to prevent the rabies virus from spreading in the animal and the human population. Right after the meaningful address by the chief guest, snacks and juice were served. Vote of thanks was given by Denwin D'Souza (Student, Department of MLT). As a part of the awareness program, 10 dogs in and around the campus were injected with the anti-rabies vaccine by Mr. Tauseef Ahmed. Organizers of the program were Ms. Maureen Edwards (Assistant Professor/Co-ordinator of Virology and Immunology Department), Mr. Naveen Bappanadu (Course Co-ordinator of Medical Laboratory Technology), Ms. Rashmi (Assistant Professor), Ms. Chaithra (Assistant Professor), Ms. Anjally Devasia (Assistant Professor) and Mrs. Arpitha N (Assistant Professor).

Mangaluru, 16th September ,2022:Every student eagerly awaits right from their time of admission for their most remarkable event of the college “FRESHER’S PARTY”. The 16th of September 2022 was as a memorable day in the life of every fresher of Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities of Srinivas Univeraity.  The Starlet 2k22 (fresher’s day) was filled with excitement, joy, music, enthusiasm, laughter and happiness. Dr. Laveena D'mello, Dean of Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities, presided over the Program, Professor. Dr. Vidya N, Prof. Dr. Pradeep M D, Asst. Prof. Sushmitha, Asst. Prof Joyson Prenkey Cardosa, Asst. Prof. Shreeraj S. Acharya were present in the program.
